A pioneer Ikarian wine, naturally sweet wine from Fokiano variety (100%). Hand picked noble rot grapes.

AFIANES NATURAL SWEET WINE 2011 from Ikaria

This wine expresses a rare and deeply concentrated side of Fokiano. It is a rich, naturally sweet and high-alcohol wine that connects the modern natural winemaking philosophy of Afianes Wines with the ancient wine memory of Ikaria. Moreover, its limited availability makes it especially appealing for collectors and lovers of distinctive Greek sweet wines.

AFIANES NATURAL SWEET WINE 2011 and 100% Fokiano

Fokiano gives this wine deep fruit, structure and natural intensity. In this sweet expression, the variety becomes more concentrated and more mature in aroma. Therefore, AFIANES NATURAL SWEET WINE 2011 is not only a dessert wine. It is a complete tasting experience with depth, history and a long finish.

Four years of oak ageing

The wine ages for four years in oak barrels, gaining complexity, structure and a rounder texture. At the same time, the oak supports the mature notes without covering the character of Fokiano. As a result, the wine remains rich, honeyed and balanced, with natural sweetness and aromatic depth.

Handmade clay 500ml bottle

The handmade clay 500ml bottle gives this wine a distinctive appearance and collectible value. In addition, the bottle reflects the deep connection of Afianes Wines with tradition, clay, pithari winemaking and the ancient wine culture of Ikaria. For this reason, it also makes a memorable gift for wine lovers.

Taste profile of AFIANES NATURAL SWEET WINE 2011

In the glass, this wine shows an intense honey color with orange highlights. On the nose, it offers dried apricot, fig, date and orange liqueur. On the palate, it feels dense, sweet and complex, with a long finish of anama honey. At the same time, the structure and alcohol bring balance, length and presence.

Food pairing ideas

You can pair this natural sweet wine with caramelized fruit, salted dark chocolate, nuts and rich cheeses. It also works beautifully with aged cheeses, desserts with fig, orange or honey, and special dishes that need a dense, honeyed wine beside them. Moreover, it can stand alone as a slow meditation wine after dinner.

Serving recommendation

Serve AFIANES NATURAL SWEET WINE 2011 chilled, at 10°C. This temperature keeps the sweetness balanced and highlights the aromas of dried fruit, honey and orange. Also, give the wine a few minutes in the glass, so it can open gradually and reveal its full aromatic depth.
