The Sileni were mythological figures associated with nature, flowing waters and the fertility of the land. In ancient Greek tradition, they were considered wise beings with prophetic abilities and a close connection to music.
Silenus became particularly associated with Dionysus and the world of wine. As a chthonic figure, he symbolised the connection between nature, fertility and the cycle of life and death, themes that also form part of the wider symbolism surrounding Dionysus.
Handcrafted in Ikaria Exclusively for Afianes Winery
The ring is crafted from 925 sterling silver by the Ikarian silversmith and goldsmith Fakaros Jewellery.
The design was created exclusively for Afianes Winery, bringing together contemporary Ikarian craftsmanship, ancient Greek mythology and the culture of wine.
Silenus and Dionysus
In ancient Greek mythology, Silenus is presented as a close companion and teacher of Dionysus. His association with wine, wisdom and nature creates a natural connection with the world and philosophy of Afianes Winery in Ikaria.
